Oooh @xoxolesley I was thinking of doing the same thing. I remember really enjoying that book when I was young.

@Pudgekat I just finished Little Fires Everywhere. Really enjoyed it. Was there an MSA bookclub? I never paid any attention. SHOULD there be a bookclub? :)

I'm not reading anything right now but I want my next book to be The Couple Next Door that I got in the BOTM club. I can't find it though :expressionless: so I'll be doing a search for it this weekend.

Reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, by Gail Honeyman. There was an article on the author and book in the Costco connection, and it's Target's book of the month club. Ordered mine form Target and surprisingly it is signed by the author.

Listening to Amy Schumer's book via my library app - it's perfect for a car ride.

@dotz I really like Amy Schumer's book. On the audio does she read it? That would be even better!

I love it when writers read their own stuff for their audiobook. My favorite was all the malcolm gladwell stuff. He's got such a great voice and is a great story teller.

On the same line as Amy schumer, aziz ansari reading his romance book was great! It was like he was just talking to you

Also since this is the "what are you reading thread"-- I'm reading "the party" by Elizabeth day for a book club of mine.

It's slow so far but the other people like it.

@Tammy_from_Cali I am on the library list but might just nab it from BOTM instead. Looks like a fun book!

What are you reading?

I read a few books from The Puzzle Lady series that I checked out from the library and am mad. I read Book 5 With This Puzzle I Thee Kill, Book 7 Stalking the Puzzle Lady, and Book 8 You Have the Right to Remain Puzzled. One of the secondary characters is an abusive ex-husband whose ex-wife has a restraining order against. Yet there are situations in all three books where they are in contact or the ex-wife protects him or helps him. The author is a man. It makes me wonder if this is how he sees domestic violence. I doubt I will pick this series up again unless someone knows that Dennis Pride is not in future books. It really bothers me because I feel it sends a message that DV isn't serious or that it is OK to be in contact despite the restraining order. I wonder if any of his audience are male?

I am currently reading A Dead-End Job Mystery Catnapped! by Elaine Viets I'm in a mood for cozy mysteries that I can check out from my local library. Any suggestions?

I'm reading Match Making for Beginners by Maddie Dawson that I downloaded from Amazon. It's a fun, cute story so far.
@PA Anna have you ever read any of Sue Grafton's books? I find that her books are easy to read without all of the gory details from some mystery novels.

What are you reading?

Post by Luna » Mon Jul 02, 2018 12:58 pm

I used to be such a big reader, but over the past two years, I always seemed to "not have the time" to read because I prioritized my time with other things that seemed to interest me more. Well, I have quite the stack of books in my room patiently waiting to be read, and I recently decided that I'm going to start up my reading again. Unfortunately, despite my love for reading, it always knocks me out, so I only read as I'm settled in bed, which means I only get about 10-20 pages in at a time. So to start off, I just picked a stack to work off of at random, and the first book on top of the stack was:

I Want to Be Your Joey Ramone by Stephanie Kuehnert. From what I can remember what it's about (I only started reading it last night), is that a young woman starts a punk band of her own in an effort to find her mom who abandoned her as a newborn so she could follow punk bands herself.

What peaked my interest in this book was that it had the same title of a Sleater Kinney song I like, and S-K is my most favorite band (thus my avatar  ).

Today I finished reading Get Out of Your Own Way by Mark Goulston, M.D., and Philip Goldberg. I'm not sure what I'm going to read next.

I’m currently re-reading Farenheit 451 before watching the new movie version with Michael B. Jordan. Also on my nightstand: a bunch of pregnancy/childbirth books that I alternate reading.
Oh, can you suggest me some good books about conceiving, pregnancy and parenting? I'm trying to conceive and currently reading articles about best ovulation test strips.
Also I was re-reading some early works by Stephen King like Pet cematary, Carrie, The Shining. Tried to read Doctor Sleep but I didn't like it.
